Email is a powerful marketing tool that allows you to build and nurture relationships with your target audience. Email is also a great way to close sales with your customers. However, if you're using email marketing incorrectly, it can be counterproductive and even lead to unsubscribes. In order to achieve the highest ROI on your marketing efforts, follow these six email do's and don'ts.
1. Keep Your Emails Simple
Email should be considered a one-on-one conversation. While sophisticated image- based templates may look attractive, they tend to have lower click-through rates than plain text emails. Plus, the complexity of these templates may not load properly on some devices. Instead, stick with a clean and simple layout that will load correctly on all devices.
A simple text-based email also conveys a more personal and natural approach than an overly complicated email format. It's important to remember that most people will scan email content and only retain information that is relevant to them.
2. Do Use A Call-to-Action (CTA)
An email without a CTA is just another piece of spam in the inbox. Make sure that your email includes a clear and concise call-to-action to get your audience engaged. This could be to share a blog article, visit your website or simply ask them to reach out to you for more information.
3. Do Personalize Your Emails
A personalized email shows that you have a deep understanding of your customer. In turn, this builds trust and respect. In addition, it will help your customer develop higher expectations for future communications.
4. Do Use Time-Sensitive Emails
Timing is an important part of your email strategy. Aim to send your emails at the times that are most likely to be opened. For example, if you know that your customers in Mexico open their emails at 2 p.m., schedule your emails to be sent at this time.
5. Don't Spam Your Audience
As with any type of marketing, spamming your audience will cause them to ignore your messages. If you spam your subscribers, they'll start to tune you out, leading to a decrease in brand awareness and engagement. Instead, focus on delivering value to your subscribers through informative and entertaining emails that are in line with your brand's voice.
6. Do Create A Workflow System
Once you've built up your list of email addresses, set up automated email workflows that will automatically send your subscribers a series of emails based on specific triggers. For instance, if a subscriber adds items to their cart but doesn't convert, you can automatically send them an email reminder. This will help increase your conversion rates and allow you to follow up with potential clients who have shown interest in your products or services.
